Since the accident in Seveso in 1976, European regulations have undergone significant changes. Industrial risk management has become a major concern for public authorities. The impacts of industrial activities on health and the environment are subject to risk analysis and hazard assessment, particularly in the chemical and oil sectors.
The training in industrial hazard assessment is now a mandatory requirement for employees at these types of companies.
The Importance of Training in Industrial Hazard Assessment
Regulations regarding risk have changed significantly in recent years. Companies are now able to assess the risks associated with their operations and studies on how to prevent these risks. This development stems from the European Seveso Directives and the French Risks Act, enacted in 2003 following the AZF disaster.
Examples of training on industrial hazard assessment
Gesip offers a wide range of training courses on industrial risk assessment. Depending on the specific technical needs and objectives, a variety of tools are implemented to address the issue.
Training: Hazard Assessment for a Designated Site (EDD)
This Gesip training course is intended for anyone working in an environment subject to ICPE regulations (classified facilities for environmental protection). The objectives of this training course are as follows :
- Learn how to conduct a hazard and risk analysis;
- Learn the methods for conducting the study;
- Conduct research and select baseline scenarios;
- Learn how to use a hazard analysis to identify the operational elements of an internal emergency plan.
Participants will learn, in particular, aboutsafety organization. They will conduct a risk analysis and learn how to implement risk mitigation measures.
Training: Developing a Company's Internal Operations Plan (POI1)
This Gesip training course is intended for anyone who may implement or modify their company’s emergency response plan for their company. A prerequisite is completion of the “Hazard Assessment for Classified Sites” training. Its objectives are as follows.
- Review of regulations;
- Research on the hazards of oil and chemical operations;
- Knowledge of major intervention procedures;
- Work on the internal operational plan, including exercises and analysis.
Gesip's expertise and its analysis of experience-sharing initiatives.
These training sessions are held at one of Gesip’s two technical sites. Unique in Europe, oneis is located in Vernon, in the Eure department, and the other in Roussillon, in the Isère department. They are housed in industrial facilities and allow for high-quality, full-scale training courses. This applies to fire management or drills simulating chemical leaks, for example.
