Gesip has established itself as a leader in industrial safety. Having developed recognized expertise, our organization has become a key player in the industrial sector. We bring together some 60 members who work together to improve industrial safety.
Gesip supports government agencies and industry in navigating regulatory changes.
The fire in Rouen in September 2019 led to a major overhaul of regulations. The changes are mainly expected regarding rules governing storage facilities for flammable liquids in fixed or mobile containers, as well as the transport of liquids and gases via pipelines.
Gesip, whose credibility is recognized by the authorities for its expertise and impartiality, has contributed to the review of regulatory developments as an expert. Indeed, we are contributing to the consultation on draft legislation amending the regulations governing the use and storage of flammable liquids, led by the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition. We were questioned by the Senate committee in charge of the investigation (see “Engineering Techniques” section).
En outre, afin d’accompagner les industriels et leur permettre d’actualiser leurs connaissances réglementaires, Gesip met en place des actions de formations ciblées. Deux thématiques sont ainsi prévues dès le 1er trimestre 2021 :
- Update to Regulations Governing the Storage of Flammable and Combustible Liquids
- What's New in the 2020 Revision of the Multi-Fluid Regulation
POI updates required due to regulatory changes
Legislative changes enacted in 2020 make it necessary to update Internal Emergency Response Plans (IERPs) starting in 2021. The IERP is a risk management tool that outlines the organizational and response measures to be taken in the event of an accident to protect people, property, and the environment. Classified industrial facilities are required to define and implement an IOP tailored to their specific structure.
Finally, we are drafting a methodological guide titled “Designing a Fire Protection System.” The result of the work of one of our expert groups, it is scheduled for release in 2021.
