Qualifications and quality controls

Today, Gesip is the only French organization accredited for the classification of « high-performance » foaming agents (section 43 of the amended Ministerial Ruling of 10/3/2010). An updated list of foaming agents that have passed these tests is available to users.

As part of the activities of the Foaming Agents Working Group, Gesip has established a test protocol to better include the quality of the foaming agents in the application rates used for the development of Emergency Response Plans. This protocol has been recognized by the French Administration.

QUALITY CONTROL OF FOAMING AGENTS

Gesip is also available for its members, to check the quality of foaming agents and their actual capacity to extinguish fires:
  • Performance testing on a 5.4-sqm containment, as well as tests on larger areas (45-, 100-, 200-sqm and a 100-sqm bowl top),
  • Check on delivery,
  • Aging assessment.

Gesip can also provide advice in the elaboration of the technical specifications within the scope of an invitation to tender.

TESTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONTRIBUTING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FOAMING AGENTS

Gesip also provides extinguishing test sessions to assess the performance of the latest generation of foaming agents, in keeping with both the regulatory requirements and the environment, thus contributing to their development.

Gesip carries out these tests upon the request of non-members or subscribers, groups of associations or manufacturers.

WHY SUBMIT YOUR FOAMING AGENT?

Qualifying a foaming agent allows its application at a reduced rate, as specified in Appendixes 5 and 6 of the Ministerial Ruling, thus allowing lower consumption, not only of the foaming agent, but also of water and power in the equipment used.
